This location of Baxters Landing has only recently opened, and as such I understand that there will be teething problems, but sadly, even taking that into account, I can only give two stars based on my experience there. I'm willing to go back in time to try again, but won't be rushing back again.

The menu is simple, not too many items listed, but sufficient to offer a variety of choices. This would make me think the chefs would then know how to cook these options well. Sadly they haven't mastered it yet. For example, "rare" steak coming out closer to "well done." Fries that are soggy and not crisp. Over salted vegetables.

The service, whilst being friendly, was not efficient or customer focused. We finished our bottle of wine early into our meal, but it was over twenty minutes later once I had finished eating that our server actually asked if we wanted another. Had she noticed and asked earlier, we would have ordered another bottle, but declined at this point.

My wife's steak was not cooked to liking, and although this was rectified, including the manager speaking with us. neither he nor our server actually ever said what was going on, and if they would provide anything as a gesture of goodwill.

Overall, poor communication and attention to the customer made for a disappointing meal.
I hope this can be improved upon, as it looks promising, and I would love to have a decent bar/restaurant like this prosper in the Oshawa Mall.
